The 365 GT4 Berlinetta Boxer stands as a pivotal milestone in Ferrari’s illustrious history, heralding the introduction of the groundbreaking flat-12 engine. Unveiled in prototype form at the prestigious 1971 Turin Motor Show, this iconic model entered production in 1973, maintaining its captivating design with very few alterations. Upon its debut, it claimed the titles of both the fastest and most expensive car in the world, solidifying its status as a true automotive marvel. With only 367 units produced between 1973 and 1976, the 365 GT4 Berlinetta Boxer has become one of Ferrari’s most coveted models, revered by collectors and enthusiasts alike.

This particular example is exceptionally rare, being one of only 58 right-hand-drive models specifically built for the UK market. Chassis number '17649' was completed on February 5, 1974, and emerged from the factory draped in the stunning Blu Chiaro, complemented by a luxurious beige Connolly leather interior. It was delivered to Colonel Ronnie Hoare’s renowned Maranello Concessionaires and quickly found its way into the hands of its first owner, the illustrious boat racer and designer, Don Shead. Shead's legacy includes creating high-performance powerboats for the Uno Embassy Racing Team in the 1970s, a team co-owned by Colonel Ronnie Hoare, thus enhancing the car’s historical significance and connection to the world of motorsport.

Throughout its storied life, this remarkable car has changed hands several times, each owner contributing to its rich history. In the early 1980s, A G F Oldworth acquired the vehicle and re-registered it as 'CJ 15'. In 1984, it was owned by Peter English, who updated the registration to 'RLJ 565M'. A year later, the car was purchased by Roger L Earl of Surrey, who re-registered it as '8332 RE'. By the mid-1990s, it was in the hands of Christopher Roberts, who brought it back to its current plate, 'DBY 462M'. Subsequent owners include David Tregar in the late 1990s and Ian Entwistle around 2000. The car was later registered to Andrew Stear of London in 2006 before making its way to the current owner in 2012.

Since then, this magnificent Berlinetta Boxer has undergone substantial maintenance and a meticulous restoration. Initially serviced by the renowned Bob Houghton, the Ferrari received an extensive restoration by marque specialists Keys Motorsport between 2014 and 2020, with restoration costs exceeding an impressive £94,000. Notable work includes a gearbox replacement and a new speedometer, both fitted by Bob Houghton in November 2012 at 42,274 miles, ensuring that this car is not just a stunning example of Italian craftsmanship but also a mechanically sound vehicle ready for the road.

This pristine 365 GT4 Berlinetta Boxer embodies the rarefied spirit of Ferrari and represents a unique opportunity to own a piece of automotive history. With its illustrious provenance, breathtaking design, and impeccable restoration, this is more than just a car; it is an investment in a legacy that continues to captivate and inspire. Don’t miss your chance to acquire this highly desirable Ferrari, a true classic that promises not only to turn heads but also to offer an exhilarating driving experience for years to come.
