Our 1975 Fiat 500 Jolly is a picture-perfect recreation of one of Italy’s most charming and collectible automobiles. It’s been carefully and skillfully reimagined by the same expert Italian craftsmen behind our Ziba recreation — this time, in the unmistakable style of the original Ghia-built Fiat Jolly, one of the most desirable beach cars ever made.
This example began life as a classic Fiat 500 saloon, then underwent a full bare-metal restoration in Italy. Every inch of the car was meticulously reworked to Jolly specifications, referencing an original Ghia-built car to ensure authenticity and accuracy. The result is nothing short of stunning.
The car is finished in a soft, sun-loving Pastel Blue, complemented by bright chrome detailing, whitewall tires, and chrome hubcaps that sparkle in the sun. A blue and white striped canvas surrey top, complete with fringed edging, captures the carefree spirit of Mediterranean summers. It’s impossible not to smile when you see it — and even harder not to when you’re behind the wheel.
Inside, the seats are beautifully hand-woven wicker, supported by tan leather tops, with matching rattan floor mats underfoot. The entire cabin is open-air, breezy, and full of playful elegance. It’s both luxurious and wonderfully simple — just as the original Jolly was meant to be.
Mechanically, it remains true to Fiat’s lively and reliable 499cc air-cooled two-cylinder engine, paired with a smooth 4-speed manual transmission. It’s not built for speed, but it’s full of soul. Perfect for cruising through town, winding along coastal roads, or pulling up to your favourite café or yacht club with flair.
The origin of the Jolly traces back to Gianni Agnelli — chairman of Fiat — who commissioned the original design as a tender for his 82-foot yacht, Agneta. Ghia removed the roof and doors, replaced standard seating with wicker, and added a fringed surrey top. The result was an instant classic. Fewer than 400 original Jollys were ever built, and today they are rare, high-value collector items. This recreation offers all the same joy and style, in a fresh, fully usable package.
Whether for your collection, your coastal property, or just for weekend fun, this Fiat 500 Jolly recreation is one of the most delightful small cars money can buy. It’s a rolling conversation piece, a summer icon, and a symbol of effortless Italian style.
