We are delighted to offer the ultimate development of the David Brown “gentleman’s express” concept of a Grand Touring motor car, the splendid DB6 MKII.

As per the factory records this example is finished in its original colour combination of Olive Green (ICI) coachwork with Connolly Natural hide, matching Wilton carpets leather bound. Gleaming chrome deep wire wheels are fitted with Avon Radial 215/70 R15 tyres which makes the car sit mean on the road. Fitment of chrome three ear spinners gives a touch of added class which enhance the appearance, Natural seat belts trimmed to match the main hide in classic webbing and chrome fittings gives the car an air of sophistication.

Delivered new to Japan and benefitting from a host of non-standard options from the factory including the highly desirable ZF 5-speed manual gearbox. Fast forward 46 years, the MK2 has covered a warranted 23,600 miles from new under the care and stewardship of its long term owner. It was sourced by DD Classics and repatriated back to sunny Blighty. To find a car in this time warp condition is a collectors dream and the ultimate to restore.

The execution of the restoration works carried out have been to the very highest standard and exceed the standard of work carried out by Works Service – this is the benchmark of how good this car is. The final attention to detail during a restoration in our view is where 40 percent of the time is absorbed. MM perfect fitment of the gaps and crucially on the alloy bodied cars, getting the doors to open and close with ease is a masterful art to get right on a DB.

The engine bay is immaculate, highly polished cam covers gleaming trumpets on the Weber’s all standing proudly in a regimental row. Mechanically better than new, the engine has been fully rebuilt with completely new internals and uprated to 4.2 specification, dyno test results on file. The coachwork stripped back to bare metal fully repainted to the original spec. Cockpit stripped back also and fully retrimmed at no expense spared using the best hides and Wilton carpets, these works where carried out by the best – proper!

Being one of the last of the Series the MK2’s were produced from July 1969 to November 1970 and one of the shortest production runs from Newport Pagnel. A total of 243 coupes were constructed in both left and right hand drive. Another revolutionary introduction was the fitment of power steering as standard. Flared wheel arches with 6? deep rim wire wheels gave the car a meaner presence on the road. Additionally a redesigned cockpit with pleated seats, head restraints and seat belts made the car more comfortable on long jaunt’s. With the combination of the PAS these late cars are effortless to drive and even by todays standard a very capable outside lane car.
