Presented in Dove White coachwork with Magnolia Connolly hide - piped Oxblood. Matching Wilton carpets leather bound throughout the car including the boot, webbing trimmed seatbelts to match the main hide - chrome fittings with AM wings. Instrument facia and body coloured Moto-lita steering wheel finish off the beautiful cabin. Chrome wire wheels with twin ear spinners fitted with Avon tires and full stainless steel sport exhaust.

Supplied new through Societe Nouvelle du Garage Mirabeau - Paris and delivered on 3rd July 1961. This example was built to order by M.Carmine De Baiase Marseille and special ordered with chrome wire wheels and oil cooler (an option fitted to only 53 cars).

Total restoration works carried out by AM Works Service included: 

  • Exterior body & panel work
  • Remove complete alloy body from the chassis; assess condition of alloy panels once they have been chemically stripped of paint
  • Make up body panels and or sections in new alloy as required
  • Treat and prepare all re-worked panels in preparation of fitting to repaired chassis

Chassis
Sand blast complete chassis to assess level of corrosion damage to be repaired. Re-work complete chassis and framework. Prepare bare metal chassis and ancillary metal work to powder black protection. Seam seal all joining panels and finish in undercoat. Paint in semi-matte black, chassis and engine bay. High gloss black engine bulkhead panels as required.

Paint
To paint the complete exterior of the refitted body in specified paint colour using the latest technology paint process for durability.

Cockpit 
Overhaul all seat frames and structures. Renewing all seat foams and panel foams where required. Re-trim complete interior using Wilton weaved carpet and Connolly hides. Polish all finishers, make up new carpets to suit interior, recover dashboard top, paint dashboard to specification and re-trim boot area to specification.

Engine
Remove engine from the chassis and power clean. Strip engine, measure components against original specification; thoroughly clean and inspect the engine block checking for corrosion and internal damage, establish serviceability. Rebuild engine block to Works 4.2 litre specification. Carry out unleaded conversion using hardened valve seats without power loss. Install new oil pump, drive chain and timing chains, replace oil cooler and pipes if required. Fit new auxiliary engine fixtures, fittings, mounting brackets as required; re-chroming and plating to a high standard using stainless steel fixings where applicable. Overhaul the ignition distributor installing a modern electronic ignition system for improved reliability and increased performance; replacing spark plug leads and caps. Overhaul fuel lines and carburettors, chemically clean fuel tank and repair as required, replace fuel pump with an electronic version for improved reliability. Overhaul cooling and interior heating radiators carrying out repairs as required; replace all coolant hoses with modern silicone rubber type. Engine will be test bedded prior to installation and a record of power output kept within the Provenance Record. Prepare engine bay with correct fittings and fixtures with new under bonnet wiring harness, in keeping with the period.

Transmission & Axel 
Strip, clean and inspect internal components of the gearbox replacing parts as required. Checking gearbox casings for damage and cracks, repairing as required. Rebuild gearbox using new components seals and gaskets. Fit new balance clutch and flywheel unit to the latest condition, modifying clutch mechanism as necessary. Renew clutch master and slave cylinder together with new clutch lines and flexible hoses. Strip, clean and inspect axle components replacing components as necessary, retaining original axle ratio. Sandblast and paint exterior unit to a high gloss finish. Strip, clean, overhaul and re-balance prop-shaft assembly and paint to a high gloss. Refit units using new mounting rubbers nuts and bolts as required.

Brakes
Remove all braking components, clean and inspect to assess condition. Overhaul brake callipers, servos and master cylinders using all new seals and rubbers. Replace all brake hydraulic metal pipes with latest copper-nickel pipe and renew all flexible brake hoses. Replace brake discs and new brake pads all round. Fill brake fluid system with latest high specification brake fluid.

Exhaust System
Exhaust manifolds to be repaired and sand blasted as required; manifolds to be prepared in Silver colour high temperature enamel exhaust paint. Original exhaust system to be replaced with a sports stainless steel system. 

Suspension & Steering
Strip, clean and inspect all steering rack components and overhaul as required; rebuild using new bearings, seals, gaiters and track rod ends, painting unit in high gloss black paint. Strip, clean and inspect all front suspension components for damage and cracks, bead blast and powder coat all metal parts. Rebuild suspension replacing road springs and shock absorbers, using new rubber mountings and seals as required. Strip, clean and inspect all rear suspension components for damage and cracks, bead blast and powder coat all metal parts. Replace rear road springs and shock absorbers; rebuild using new rubber mounts and seals. Fit new steering wheel made to original manufacture specification.

Wheels & tyres
Supply new wheels to specification with correct fitment tyres. Supply new specified hub spinners.

Electrical system 
Convert vehicle ground to negative earth and modify electrical instruments and components to suit. Fully overhaul all gauges. Install modern type battery. Renew or refurbish all electrical units as required including headlamps, bulb upgrade, side lamps, indicators, interior switches, wiper motor, starter motor, Renew " wiring harnesses.

With just 904 kilometres covered since completion and over 300BHP to the wheels, this truly is an exceptional and exciting example to be able to present. Benefitting from a nut and bolt restoration by Aston Martin Works, this example can only be described as being the best of the best, exceeding all expectations. We are thrilled be able to present this sensational DB4!
